Traditional Vs. Ceramic Braces
Though they have similar effects, traditional and ceramic braces are not the same. For one thing, traditional braces are made of metal, while ceramic braces are generally made from porcelain. That material makes ceramic braces slightly less noticeable, though they are the same size. In this piece, we answer questions about both techniques.
Clear Ceramic Braces
Clear ceramic braces are similar to traditional metal braces in design and size. However, instead of metal brackets and wires, they feature clear brackets that blend in better with your teeth and are less noticeable while retaining their durability, stain resistance, and function. Some even have tooth-colored wires as well. Ceramic braces are well suited for many patients who do not have severe misalignments. Your orthodontist will let you know if you're a good candidate after they examine your teeth.Read more about Clear Ceramic Braces
Self-litigating braces are similar to traditional braces, but they use special clips and brackets to hold the teeth in place rather than elastic, rubber bands or metal ties. The clips allow greater tooth movement, reducing the discomfort sometimes associated with traditional orthodontics.Read more about Self-Ligating Braces
